報(bào)告人簡(jiǎn)介:
魏松嶠,博士、密歇根州立大學(xué)副教授。2007年本科畢業(yè)于北京大學(xué)構(gòu)造地質(zhì)學(xué)專業(yè),2010年于北京大學(xué)獲得固體地球物理學(xué)碩士學(xué)位,2016年于圣路易斯華盛頓大學(xué)獲得地球與行星科學(xué)博士學(xué)位。2016至2017年在加州大學(xué)圣地亞哥分校Scripps海洋研究所任職Green Scholar博士后。2018年至今在密歇根州立大學(xué)工作。2021年獲得美國(guó)國(guó)家科學(xué)基金會(huì)早期職業(yè)發(fā)展獎(jiǎng)(NSF CAREER Award)。主要研究方向包括俯沖帶結(jié)構(gòu)和地震,以及全球中地幔結(jié)構(gòu)。目前共發(fā)表34篇學(xué)術(shù)論文,包括以第一或通訊作者在Nature, Science, Science Advances等期刊上發(fā)表16篇論文。

? ? ? ? ?About 75% of global earthquakes and volcanoes are rooted in subduction zones. Subducting plates, or slabs, bring materials from the Earth’s surface to the deep Earth and thus play an important role in Earth’s interior material distribution, recycling, and evolution. Recent seismic observations crossing shorelines greatly advanced our understanding of subduction zone earthquakes, arc volcanoes, and the Earth’s deep material cycle. In this talk, I will first present some new methodology developments utilizing amphibious seismic array data in the Tonga subduction zone, including machine-learning techniques in detecting deep earthquakes and transdimensional MCMC tomography. Then, I will present our latest studies on slab dehydration and mantle wedge melting in the Alaska subduction zone. In sum, subduction zones, particularly the offshore part, are uncharted waters in seismology. New data and emerging methods and technologies will lead us to new discoveries and directions in subduction zone sciences.
